Makepeace Cabinetmaking has been creating exceptional bespoke furniture for every room in the home and office since 1975. The portfolio of work undertaken is limitless from kitchen furniture to complementary interior doors and skirting boards. In fact they can make just about anything using quality hardwoods.
Without doubt, commissioning a bespoke piece of furniture is by far the best way to create furniture which is unique and a pleasure to have in your home.
What sets Makepeace apart from other companies? Makepeace take pride in both the quality of their furniture and the personal service they offer. It does not take long to appreciate how well made their furniture is. They strive to achieve complete customer satisfaction throughout the process, from design to installation.
The first stage of the process is to explore and investigate all the options available. There will be a consultation with a professional designer at the showroom or at the client's home, where plenty of time is spent discussing requirements and design ideas. This personal service also gives an opportunity for people to find out more about the company, see the workshops and get a deeper understanding of how furniture is made.
"Clients sometimes have a clear idea of their requirements from the beginning; however often we will suggest an idea that may not originally have occurred to them. It's my job to help people realise the potential of a design concept and how it can be applied"
Matthew Williams BA (Hons) MSc
Furniture Designer
The next stage is to create design proposals and communicate with the client through drawings, models and samples. It is important that clients understand and visualize these ideas. Once a final design and price has been agreed upon, the making process begins. Clients are encouraged to visit the workshops to see their commission being made.
The company employs some of the finest craftsmen in the industry, with an exceptional ability to make furniture to the highest quality and design. Gordon Wide, workshop manager and cabinetmaker with over 30 years experience says
"Every job is different and always a challenge. We take enormous pride in what we do and enjoy working with the customers on their project and have great satisfaction in seeing the finished end results"
With the wealth of experience available to all its clients, Makepeace believe that commissioning a piece of furniture will not only be an investment, but will give many years of pleasure, providing the owner with something beautiful to be treasured. The company takes pride in the fact that a lot of work comes from returning clients and recommendations. In fact, when people see the furniture they know from the quality and design that it is 'Definitely Makepeace'.
